Pre-Season Eventing Competitions & Training

Postby Bloggso » Wed Jan 04, 2012 5:31 pm

A number of events & training competitions have been organised to help prepare you & your horse for the 2012 Eventing season.

ARENA EVENTS
Les Smith is running Arena Events throughout January & February. STIRLINGSHIRE SADDLERY donates saddlery vouchers to the first three overall point’s winners at the conclusion of the series and rosettes to sixth place in all classes.

All fences will knock down. In the 1st phase the fences will be coloured and include 6-8 obstacles. The 2nd phase will have 7-10 rustic fences built to resemble cross-country fences, e.g. skinny's, corners, etc.. Each phase has a time allowed and time limit. After the 1st phase the competitor will go on to the 2nd phase, even if they have faults in the 1st phase (but not if eliminated). The winner will be the competitor with the lowest combined score. Dress code will be as for Showjumping

Sun 22nd Jan SNEC – entries close 15th Jan
Sun 12th Feb Howe CC – entries close 5th Feb
Sun 26th Feb Gleneagles – schedule TBC

BRITISH EVENTING JUMP TRAINING
BE are running their annual Jump Training series with BAILEYS Horse Feed. The competition offers a unique opportunity to showjump in a competitive environment under the eagle eye of a BE Accredited Coach. Competitions are open to both BE members and non-members and include a course walk followed by a guided warm-up, where riders benefit from being put through their paces before their round by a top trainer.

The Scottish competition is being held at Rowallan on Sat 24th March. Classes are 80cm, 90cm & 1m

Aimed at those starting out in Eventing as well as those already competing at BE80, BE90 and BE100 level; it is judged on STYLE and PERFORMANCE. The aim of the competition is to encourage competitors to improve their technique and, in so doing, improve their results. The courses are built to the standard of a British Eventing Show Jumping track and are designed to encourage effective riding. The competition is split into three phases. Each rider will be given a start time for each phase.

Phase 1: The course walk: The BE Accredited Coaches will conduct a course walk at the beginning of each Class. This is part of the training exercise and should not be missed. The walk is conducted in two groups for maximum benefit to the competitors.
Phase 2: Guided working in: Each rider will receive a guided warm up with an Accredited Coach prior to phase 3. Riders will be warmed up as required, for approximately six minutes. There will be sufficient time to warm up prior to your coaching.
Phase 3: The competition: Riders will jump one round, watched by an Accredited Coach, and receive feedback and advice. They will then remain in the arena and jump a second round. Both rounds will be scored and jumping faults deducted. The scores from both rounds will be added together to provide a final score. Comment sheets are available for collection at the end of the competition.

All competitors must have a free lifetime registration number from BE at the time of entering. This can be done online at www.britisheventing.com
The top 25% in each class will qualify for the series final. This is on 6th April at Solihull Riding Club.
Check the British Eventing website for more information on Jump Training & to enter. Entries open on 29th Feb & close on 21st March.
